Westjet Airlines
The Westjet Company was first started in the year 1996. Westjet Airlines was founded by Clive Beddoe, Mark Hill, Tim Morgan and Donald Bell. These four metropolis entrepreneurs were inspired by the low fare air travel in Canada and the team started their research on the successful airlines in North America who provides air travel at affordable prices to everyone. The whole team has few months to develop their business plan and financial prototype. In January 1996 Westjet Airlines have purchased three Boeing 737-200 aircrafts and their business capital has increased to begin all their operations.
The first flight operations have been Started by Westjet on 29th February 1996. At the beginning they have hired only 220 employees and aircrafts flying to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver and Kelowna. Later they have started their services to many cities. In july 1999, the Westjet has accomplished its Initial Public Offering of 2.5 million towards common shares. With the help of dedicated executive team, CIBC World Markets and Insurance Underwriters, this has earned sufficient capital to expand their company and this company has also started hanger services at Calgary.
Now, the Westjet employs around 6,000 employees and the whole staff is well trained to serve all their customers. Presently, this Westjet company is carrying people to 23 Canadian destinations and it flies seasonally to 10 International destinations. Until now the Westjet airlines has served 9.4 million customers safely to their desired destinations.
The Westjet Airlines founder has been honored as 'The Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year' for providing their services to all Canadian travelers for low fares and in the same the founders of the Westjet has received an International Entrepreneurship Award for their extraordinary teamwork. They have also added their first four next generation Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The Westjet Airlines was also identified one of the top 100 employers in the year 2002.

Westjest! Westjet! You made my day, monghs, years. As a young author, it was rather exciting travelling from Toronto to Winnepeg in December 1999. Taking a copy of my then recent published book on flight, and upon hearing the pilot saying "those who wish to come to the cockpit may", I took the opportunity and went. A grand surprise awaited me, when the pilot noticed that I had a copy of my book in my hand. He asked me about it; further stated that if I wanted I could read from it. Stunned at first, I accepted, and read two poems. I signed the one copy I had and gave it to the pilot. Hearing me reading, my fellow passengers were thrilled, some offered me drinks by way of the Flight Crew. It was a wonderful experience, which at a later day, I wrote about it in a book. I know Westjet is a great Airline, and I look forward to more adventurous journey.
Stop! On my way back from Winnipeg, I had another wonderful experience when I was asked to read again. This time the crow was really captivated as they clapped and gave me high fives when I was through. Again complimentary drinks were offered. Truly, I had a captivated audience both times. Our only disappointment this year was the change in policy for unaccompanied minors; our daughter flew with Westjet for 6 years, and our son began flying unaccompanied last year with our trust in Westjet airlines. . |

Iam a frequent flyer with westjet airlines. I must say iam very impressed with this airline. every time i fly with them i get the same consistent friendly customer service. WestJet is one of the best airlines I've ever been on, and I have been on a LOT! I feel so cared and comfortable on westjet. The crew is so welcoming and nice. They make it way more interesting and fun. When I go on westjet I don't feel like I'm on an ordinary flight waiting for it to end. The crew makes westjet just like home, but on an airplane. That's how westjet is so AMAZING!!. |

I normally bring a suitcase with me. I had my suitcase delayed once on my way in from Calgary. When I got to the baggage pickup the westjet agent paged me and told me my luggage did not make the plane and will be couriered to my house. So that i save more money with that lost suitcase sent to my house by the westjet authority. So that the service was very good with this airlines compared with others.. |
