Los Angeles Airport is the primary airport serving Los Angeles, California, United States. It is often referred to by its airport code LAX. It is the largest airport in the Greater Los Angeles Area and occupies some 3,425 acres of the city on the Pacific coast, about 15 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles. It is the busiest airport in the state of California and the third busiest airport by passenger traffic in the United States. The region relies on a multiple airport system because of its vast size. In terms of international passengers, it is the second busiest Airport in the United States and 20th in worldwide. It is a major hub for United Airlines which currently operates Terminals 6, 7 and 8.
