Hawaiian Airlines
The Hawaiian Airlines was established in 1927, based in Honolulu. Hawaiian Airlines is the largest airline in the US and is commonly referred as HAL. The Hawaiian Airline's hub is located in Honolulu international airport in Honolulu. It has the code sharing agreements with continental airlines, Korean airlines, American airlines, Northwest Airlines, virgin Atlantic airways and US Airways. It started its operations in 1929 with a Sikorsky S-38 on a flight between Honolulu and Hilo.
In 1966 jet travel began with the acquisition of Douglas DC-9 aircraft and in 1984 the Hawaiian company started to operate charter services to the south pacific using Douglas DC-8 aircraft. Later they added Lockheed L-1011 aircraft to their fleet for west Coast services. L-1011's were substituted in favor of the Douglas DC-10 in 1994 and the DC-10s were retired during 2002 and 2003. The company interchanged these hired DC-10s with 14 hired Boeing 767 aircrafts during its modernization and DC-9 replaced with Boeing 717 aircraft.
In 2006, Hawaiian Airlines declared that it elaborated service between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii in expectation of the initiation of the additional 4 767-300 aircraft. In July 2007, Hawaiian Airlines and Air New Zealand signed a $45 Million contract for Air New Zealand to perform heavy maintenance to Hawaiians Boeing 767 fleet of 18 aircraft. Hawaiian has never had calamitous accidents in its entire history and is the most former US carrier with such a great distinction.
