EasyJet Airlines
The EasyJet is a low fare airline formally known as EasyJet Airline. It was established in 1995. EasyJet Airlines is one of the famous airlines in Europe and controlling domestic and international planned services on 307 routes between 80 European cities. The EasyJet initially operated entirely Boeing 737 aircraft. In 2003 it broke with its old philosophy of operating just one aircraft type by ordering 120 Airbus A319s with CFM56-5B engines. Previously operated services are Boeing 737-200 and Boeing 737-300.
The EasyJet was kept from founding its Milan Malpensa-Olbia route in 2006 by the Italian aviation authorities. The route has been allotted to Meridiana as a public service responsibility route. EasyJet declared preliminary results for the year to September 2006. EasyJet's first basis was London Luton and largest base is at London Gatwick. The other bases are Belfast International Airport, Orly Airport and Glasgow International Airport. The EasyJet Airlines has sle ownership of the "easy" brand and licenses. Now EasyJet is public limited company listed on the London Stock Exchange and members of the Haji-Ioannou family own approximately 43%. It has 3,875 employees. The EasyJet Destinations are in Africa, Morocco, in Europe Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Scotland etc., and in Middle East, Turkey. In 2004 EasyJet and Hotelopia, a subsidiary of First Choice Holidays started a co-branded EasyJetHotels accommodation with booking service. This airline's Web site claims 95% of its tickets are sold via the Internet. They say this makes distribution efficient and less expensive than many of its competitors.
This airline is one of the most often cited examples of a mainstream company which has used the shift from multi-layer distribution to direct business. The turnover of EasyJet Airlines in 2006 is more when compared with Ryanair. The EasyJet is exacted to be a more business oriented airline than Ryanair and it flies to main airports and has removed limits on hand baggage weight. The number of passengers increased 10 times in between 1999 to 2006. In 2006 the EasyJet Airlines website was awarded the Best Airline Website award and TravelMole Web Awards.
