BMI Airlines
In the year 1985, the British Midland Airways simply became as British Midland (BMI). The BMI Airlines is a trading name for the British Midland Airways Limited. In the year 1938 Derby Aviation was formed. The company has changed the name form Derby Aviation to Derby Airways in the year 1959. It started the Domestic regular flights within the United Kingdom. On 1 October 1964 the company has once again changed its name to British Midland Airways (BMA), and then started the operations from Burnaston to the recently opened East Midlands airport. In the year 1985 it changed the color of it's aircrafts, that is they are painted in very dark blue, with a deep gray lower half of the fuselage and a red relief.
The BMI Airlines is a regular airline service. It's base airport is in Donington Hall which close to the East Midlands Airport, United Kingdom. The BMI aircrafts are flown over various destinations such as Europe, the Caribbean, Saudi Arabia and the United States. While the BMI's operational bases are Manchester Airport and London Heathrow Airport. The British Midland Airways Limited has a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority type A operating license. With this License BMI is permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircrafts.
In the year 1992, BMI Offered a vegetarian choice of in-flight meals, which is the first offered airline on UK domestic services as well as one of the first airlines in Europe also. The BMI started it's airbus services at the end of the 1990, for its fleet renewal programmer. Up to the year 2002 the BMI group carried a total of 7.95 million people to their destinations, it is raised to 10.1 million by 2005. The British Midland is become the third largest airline of any UK airline.
The BMI Airlines started it's frequent flyer program called Diamond Club with blue, silver, gold and blue plus levels. Awards are achieved by mileage flown.
