Alitalia Airlines
The Alitalia Airlines is the national airline of Italy founded on 1946 with its headquartered in Rome. Alitalia Airlines started its operations in 1947 with its first flight named as Fiat G-12 Alcione, took off between Turin and Rome and which carried over 10000 people in that year. Alitalia Airlines hubs are situated in Rome, Leonardo Da Vinci international airport, Milan and Malpensa international airport. The SM-95 was its first international flight and it serves 74 international destinations and 28 domestic destinations.
After four decades of its formation, Alitalia Airlines was carrying closed to 25 million passengers every year. In 1997 it set up a territorial subsidiary Alitalia express. In 2001 Alitalia became a member of the Sky Team alliance that today consists of the world's leading airlines including Air France, Northwest, Korean Air, Delta Air Lines, KLM, continental, CSA Czech Airlines and AeroMexico. Alitalia Airlines network expanded to more than 130 countries.
The Alitalia also referred as Alitalia Fly controls Volare Airlines, Air Europe and Alitalia Express. Alitalia provides IT services for Alitalia group and provides passenger handling in Frankfurt, Brussels and Athens. Activities of Alitalia Airlines are grouped into two broad divisions corporate affairs operations and commercial affairs. Corporate affairs covers the activities that add to the creation of company value, Operations and commercial affairs covers ground and flight as well as commercial activities.
