Alaska Airlines

The Alaska Airlines entered in to the airline business in year 1932. Alaska Airlines is providing the firmly dedicated reliable and fast service entire North America. Today also Alaska Airlines continues that standard with more than 11,000 employees and 109 top-of-the-line Alaska Airlines aircrafts. The name Alaska Airlines entitled in 1944. And Alaska's wholly owned airline Horizon Air was founded in 1981. In the year 1985 the Alaska Airlines formed as a holding company, and captured the Horizon Air and Jet America Airlines. The base airport to Alaska Airlines is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Washington, USA. It has grown from a small domestic airline to one carrying more than 12 million customers per year.

The Alaska fly more than 80 top - cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In the year 1991, it also started the flights to the Russian Far East, the airline flew MD-80 aircraft on these routes. The Alaska Air Line is the first airline which used the technology, and it was the first airline sold tickets on their own website. This is the first airline to introduce the digEplayer, a portable digital entertainment system which features TV shows, cartoons, music.

The Alaska Airlines has historically been one of the largest carriers on the US west coast as well as to and within the State Of Alaska. it started long-haul flights like the 737 Next-Generation aircrafts in the year 1999. Between the Anchorage and Chicago the Alaska started the flights in the year 2000, and a nonstop flight from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to Seattle in the year 2001.

The Alaska Airlines and the Horizon Airlines are owned by the same parent company, Alaska Air Group. These both airlines are sharing many routes in the US. The Alaska's frequent flyer program is called Mileage Plan. The Alaska also entered as service as a freighter in July 2006. The Alaska is the youngest among all major airlines, which operates the fleet of Boeing 737 and MD-80 jets. The Alaska Airlines is planning to replace all the MD-80 jets with Boeing 737-800s by the end of 2008.

Summary
I have flown Alaska Airlines a couple times and have been impressed with the attendants compared to other airlines. They are very helpful and definetly on the ball with everything they do. You feel like you are an important person on thier fligts! I will say the pricing compared to other airlines is a bit more spendy. I was not extremely impressed with the meal choice, I had one of the sandwhiches and the bread was very heavy, it filled me but it also made me feel like a lead brick after. On my next flight I will pass on the sandwhich. Comfort wise Alaska has more room for your legs!! You actually get the pillow and blannket put in your seats before boarding so that you don't have to ask for them and wait. I was impressed by the DVD players you could rent in flight. I had flown two seperate airlines in one day and the other didn't have that perk. I had brought my own on the other flight and ran out of battery mid flight, it was a nice surprise to get a DVD player for a small price and a movie to watch! Great idea guys!! All in all I am impressed with the service ok with the food cost could be a little less to compete with other airlines but it was a good experiance :o).
